October 16, 2025(2 events) 5:30 pm: Agility Workshop - Independent Weaves – Teaching independent weave pole performance takes time and patience. There are many skills for your dog to learn - how to enter, how to manage his body to make all those tight turns at speed, how to commit to all 12 weave poles, and how to approach the weaves from many different angles and distances. We will break all this down and work with each team at their own level. This workshop is designed to help you learn how to teach your dog to weave with confidence. If you can only afford one piece of agility equipment, weave poles would be my recommendation. You need to practice often, but for short periods of time. Each session can focus on a different specific skill. There are also several different methods of teaching weaves. We will introduce several of them. You can then decide which works best for you. The first four weeks we will practice all 10 exercises to pass the AKC CGC test. The Canine Good Citizen test will be administered during the last class. Focus will be on helping your dog to perform all the exercises without treats. What!!!! No treats????? That's right!!! We want your dogs to understand cues, not just follow the cookie. Accepting a friendly stranger 5 weeks - $175.00 Instructor: Jeremy Shaw 7:15 pm: Shadow Skills Nov/Int - Oct 22 for 5 weeks – Novice and Skilled levels Shadow Skills practice. Improve your dog's focus and heeling skills, while you improve your training skills. Get ideas to keep your daily walks more interesting, and your dog in better condition. You will learn new heeling tricks each week....then practice on a short course! This is a mixed levels course. October 30, 2025(2 events) 5:30 pm: Agility Workshop - Start Line Skills – There is a lot on the line at the Start of your run! Your dog is excited, you are focused on where you want to get to and remembering the course. Having a dog that can reliably STAY where you set them up can make the difference between a clean run and a frantic attempt. Your dog's job is to wait for your release command: your job is to give clear direction to your dog. We will also practice starts at different angles, including a reverse start. You want your dog to be able to take an obstacle straight on, or at an angle - depending on the line of the course. And, what are your options if your dog really cannot relax at the start? You will need another plan. Nothing is more important to me than having a strong start...there is a lot to think about on course. Having a good plan at the start can do a lot to lead you to a clean run! It's the only way to get ahead of your dog - as in most cases, the dog is faster than the handler. This workshop will introduce skills and methods to teach your dog to be more independent and committed to taking an obstacle you ask them to take.
