Heeling Workshop Series - May 12 for 3 weeks

June 2, 2025

3 Week Heeling Workshops

Week 1 - (May 12) - Heeling and Focus
While most of the time, we can walk our dogs on a loose leash allowing them to go where they want to as long as they keep the leash loose, there are times when we NEED our dogs to be close and paying attention to us.
This workshop will practice the skills needed to build a strong habit of staying focused on their handlers when asked.
Distractions, speed, leash mechanics, tricks - all help your dog stay focused on paying attention to you instead of the environment.

Week 2 - (May 19) - Heeling and Stay practice.
Stays are such a valuable skill. While working on improving our basic heeling skills, we will practice walk arounds, change of sides, moving sits and downs, standing stays. These skills will help you have better control of your dog when on your walks.

Week 3 - (June 2) - Heeling and Polite Greetings
It is helpful for our dogs to learn that they cannot greet everyone...and should not greet anyone until given permission.
Taking the previous two Heeling Skills workshops will help dog be successful with polite greetings. We will practice greeting humans only, teams with dogs, and possibly other dogs (depending on the group).
Learn how to manage your dog's arousal level so they can be successful in greetings.
